Biscuits and Gravy

 BISCUITS & GRAVY

ingredients: 

  • 1 pound bulk pork sausage
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  •  cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 to 3 ½ cups milk (or heavy cream) 
  • ¼ tsp granulated garlic
  • 1 tsp black pepperor to taste
  • ½ tsp salt,

GRAVY

  1. 1. Brown the sausage
  2. - put some coals on the bottom of your dutch oven and cook the sausage until it is brown. continue to break up the sausage into smaller pieces while stirring. 
  3. 2.  Roux for gravy
  4. - Use butter and flour to make the roux. This is the base for what thickens the gravy. Place butter in dutch oven and stir until melted. Sprinkle flour, garlic, pepper on top of the sausage and slowly stir until well coated. Continue stirring and melt the flour cook. 
  5. 3. Add heavy cream
  6. - while stirring, pour in the milk. continue to stir and simmer until gravy thickens. taste to see if salt is needed. 
  7. Add milk. While stirring, slow pour in the milk . Continue to stir and simmer until gravy thickens. Taste to see if salt is needed.


  8. BUISCUITS
-either use store bought biscuits or your favorite biscuit recipe. Either pre cook the biscuits, or cook them in a sepearate dutch oven. If pre cooked, set on top of gravy to warm them back up and then serve with the gravy.
